![]() But there's a serious point to be made here. Now I confess I'm being ever-so-slightly provocative here (trolls have nothing on me in a mischievous mood). Then they came for Maratheon and I was silent because I did not play Conquest. Then they came for Bloodthirst and I said nothing because I did not play Bloodthirst. To have that window curtailed because of someone's personal taste and not because of dominance in results (that comes from hard work fine-tuning and new card pool) seems like a dangerous path to follow.,įirst they came for KotHH and I did not speak out because I did not play KotHH. a degenerate combo which I support as this is not MtG), well so be it - I had my time in the sun to show off abusing it, my ego now veritably engorged from self-stroking. If that then results in a change to the FAQ (e.g. If a card is legal, then all bets are off on how I abuse it. It just seems strange that a soft metric (an opinion) can be used to influence the game so much. Hey, there's skill in piloting those decks too (which is why I don't play them, oh and card pool issues), Even if it's the slowly tightening vice around your testicles that is The Old Way or the explosive finish of Bloodthirst after its interminably dull delaying tactics. So grow a pair and take your beats like a man. You entered a grueling tournament and nobody put a gun to your head. ![]() However, in Tournaments, I can't see how subjective NPE can be used as a reason to restrict. (But the competitor in me secretly harboured an envious admiration of its brutal efficiency.) Like MtG Mindtwist, that first turn in my first Joust game against an experienced player (who I now relish in beating with a far smaller pool) still haunts me to this day. This removes a potentially player-quitting experience when some noob first experiences the utter violation that can be an explosive first turn PBtT. You cannot play Bloodthirst, The Old Way, Fear of Winter etc in friendly competitive games outside of a tournament (without consent e.g. Perhaps what is more healthy for the game is to simply classify some brutal cards as "Tournament Only". So does anyone find the NPE argument to be slightly guilty of double standards.? And that's the nub, isn't it? Tournament decks by definition are so brutal, designed to be so efficient and to minimise resistance, that their success is surely defined by how NPE they are? I mean, who wants to give the opponent a chance to, God forbid, have an actual game? You are there to WIN, man, to crush your opponent and leave him shell-shocked in your dust. I personally think losing 6 cards, 2 characters and down 8-0 on power after turn 1 is incredibly uninteractive but I can also admire the Tournament excellence in achieving this. ![]() (Don't get me wrong, I believe Stark deserved its moment in the sun, but as with TLV aggro, Mummer's Ford has surely hit them enough?).Īnyway, this got me thinking - what exactly is "NPE"? It's such a subjective term to base FAQ decisions on. Instead of a hard metric, like Annals of Castle Black. The worrying thing is FFG is applying a soft undefined metric, "NPE", shouted by the loudest, to actually influence the game via the FAQ. Anyway, both Naval Escort (about time) and Mummer's Ford will surely ensure there won't be another The Old Way UK Nationals mirror match Finals again. I have a pet theory that nobody loves both Greyjoy and Martell because they appeal to the Chess and Poker player respectively. Unlike Bloodthirst where you are facing an unknown hand and both players are still uncertain if the control stranglehold will tighten or loosen, with The Old Way, it's usual Greyjoy pants down tackle out all there on the table "try and break through this, matey" directness. Oh and because it is so clinical in playing the defensive attritiion game that this is "NPE" for some. The Old Way got hit because it has great results. Noble Cause could also do this so the restriction covered both. I assume this is because it turns the screw far too slowly, agonisingly slow wins that don't play to artificial tournament time limits hence its results.Ĭonquest Maratheon got hit slightly because it is "NPE" for the opposite reason: Art of Seduction turn 2 win. acronym, "Negative Play Experience"īloodthirst got hit despite mediocre results because it is "NPE", a soft classification.

![]() It's safe to say that The Elder Scrolls 6 is still largely in its planning phase. The Elder Scrolls 6 How far along is development? The theory comes from the presence of mountainous terrain in the trailer however, it's entirely possible that it's coincidental. High Rock - which is where prominent cities like Daggerfall and Shornhelm exist - was heavily featured in the first two Elder Scrolls games and in Elder Scrolls Online. Interestingly enough, this terrain seems to match up with that of the lost islands of Yokuda, which was once home of the Redguards before a catastrophic event sunk much of the continent. In the very short, uneventful, and seemingly random teaser trailer for the game, you can notice a strange collection of peninsulas on the coast of the ocean area. Some theories suggest some other lesser-known locations could be featured. In the teaser, you can note a strange collection of peninsulas on the coast of the ocean area. These locations are heavily referenced throughout Elder Scrolls lore as some of the game's most prominent races come from these lands. If we assume Bethesda wants to take us to a new location, we can guess that Elder Scrolls might take place in either Elsweyr (Home of the Khajit race), Black Marsh (home of the Argonians), or Valenwood (home of the wood elves). ![]() No one knows! To date, we've seen locales such as Morrowind, Skyrim, Cyrodiil, High Rock, and Hammerfell represented in one form or another, not including places like Elsweyr in Elder Scrolls Online. ![]() The Elder Scrolls 6 Where will it take place? But you know we'll be clawing for any details we can as the months move on. Time travel? Aliens? Sweet rolls? We don't know. The Elder Scrolls 6 could be about, well, anything. Oblivion was all about fighting demons at the doorsteps of hell, while Skyrim was about you finding a dragon within yourself and shouting at people very loudly and violently. They're all set in the world of Tamriel, and they all feed off the same lore, but the stories are intentionally self-contained to allow new players to jump in wherever they want and not feel lost.įor that reason, we can't really draw any conclusions about what will happen in The Elder Scrolls 6 based on previous titles. It's a constant life management skill, as well as a matter of personal perspective. So this week our topic is all about dividing the whole, the one, into something less (or in some ways more), whether that's halves, quarters, eights, sixteenths, or smaller, or indeed any other portions not divisible by two and in any dimension and any words associated with them. Obviously it's a deeply flawed practice (just look at the world …) but fractions are a key part of society's necessity to share. "The one who divides can't choose", is a mantra I've heard sometimes when around a hungry table, when one person is slicing up the hot dish or cutting the cake in a hopefully democratic way. Our existence, from cells to planets, is made of fractions and portions, not merely in physics and mathematics, but in everyday matters – money, food and other possessions, as well as space and time, with regular difficulty in getting it right. Simple, or not? Life certainly isn't, and having to divide things up within it is a constant preoccupation. After a certain amount of confusion, he was soon satisfied with this obvious conclusion: "The pilot! He knows a shortcut!" "How come it's much faster on the way back?" mused McAteer. The destination's timezone was one or two hours ahead of the UK, so on the way back in terms of departure and arrival times, it appeared to be a much shorter journey. ![]() "Nah!" he replied, "I'll just have it in four - I'm not that hungry!"Īnother division difficulty scenario was set on the return flight from a European game. The story goes that the Liverpool team were enjoying a meal out, and when the waiter brought Jason his serving, he asked the player whether he wanted his divided into four or eight slices. Though not quite in the top tier of players, McAteer was a loquacious, sometime popular figure, a bit of a character, but also the many tales about him highlight that he was not the always shiniest penny in the jar when it came to intelligence. There's a possibly apocryphal, though also just as likely true anecdote about pizza featuring the 1990s midfield footballer Jason McAteer, who variously played for the Republic of Ireland, Bolton Wanderers, Liverpool, Blackburn Rovers, Sunderland and Tranmere Rovers. "The greatest gift is a portion of thyself." – Ralph Waldo Emerson Quaver impacted this school in a very positive way."The happiness of life is made up of minute fractions …" – Samuel Taylor Coleridge She also related not only that she thought the students were enjoying music but also how they would tell her that they loved music class and Quaver specifically. There is no brain begind all of this, it's like mixing Call of Duty (no brain just shoot) with Total War. Now, the game pushes you into so many battles per turn (and Battle is boring and repetitive) that you start hating that game icon.exe. Before you needed to think, to plan, do diplomacy and many other stuff. The worst thing is watching how Total War franchise keeps getting worse and worse. Civilization VI is so much better in this that Total War Saga: Troy looks like a tiny crying kid pulling his respectful father (Civ VI) on a sleeve wanting to eat a cookie. Very fast you will find yourself in war with almost 80% factions because of sh*tty alghorithm that manages diplomacy and relations. AI, diplomacy, reputation and relations: Can it be worse? I actually never played a game with such terrible design. Even today, Medieval 2 and Rome 2 feels so much better. Battles: O man, so boring and repetitive. ![]() ![]() Resources and city building: for a total war game, it could be better but it's not terrible. Graphics: They are OK Progression: Feels empty and dumb, plain and sometimes confusing because it's a weird mix between imaginary and reality. Progression: Feels empty and dumb, plain and sometimes confusing because it's a Thank God I didn't pay for this. Cannot wait for the next Total war game and see which time period they will use next time. Still I liked the game! Especially the aesthics, controls and setting appealed to me. This is ancient greek though, so not very strange that they didn't have a lot of siege weapons. Maybe they should lessen the turns it take to get seige equipment. For example have combats set up (with allready finished armies) where you get to play story driven battles in the campaign. I think they should try to script some more combat in the campaign, guide you through a story more, goes for all TW games. Having "generals" or leaders in your army other than your hero is really great and adds more addition to the gameplay. I dislike that Agents could not fight in your armies. Better diplomacy AI and clarity to who your allies are and not- very unclear AI decions, they can start wars and attack you, to next turn want peace. Better description for units and diplomacy, sometimes very hard to know which units was the best when they are so similar. Also need mechanics to auto level up, because when you sit with 30+ settlements and a bunch of agents, it's just annoying choosing leveling points every single round. The negative: The campaign was very short and contain too few interesting missions. I tried Three Kingdoms and absolutley hated it. Varied combat maps, which I really liked and varied seige maps. The positive: Trade regions, diplomacy, agents, the awsome aestethics, good music (though I wish it was calmer at points), many cool units and prayer system. The map is gorgeous and the combat is awsome as always. ![]() I really liked the praying to gods mechanic for buffs. I loved the aesthetics of Troy, ancient greek and the addition of gods and diplomacy is awsome. The controls are great to and the map view in combat. For example you don't have annoying rebels every 2 seconds like in WH and you don't have invasions of Chaos razing your cities. Not as polished as Warhammer 2, but improved on a lot of things. For example you don't have annoying rebels every I think this game was great. ![]() In today’s post we are showcasing free vintage style icon sets for designers. The sets include vintage social icons, vintage camera icons, vintage business icons etc.If you have vintage style website projects you may take a look at the below icons. The icons are free to use for personal projects, however please check out the license agreement for commercial use.
